Hi! My name is Maximus and I am a Chai Guy!
Welcome to our website dedicated to unique herbal teas from the mountains of Altay!
I want to share with you a little story about my love of chai. Roots of my tea passion go back to my Grandma Anna, who was raised close to the earth in the farmlands of Ukraine. She was always seeking an alternative lifestyle, including natural foods and herbal remedies. In the late 1980’s, while living in the inland farm in west Siberia, she started introducing me to unique herbal teas, she made based on traditional Vedic recipes.
It was one of my favorite childhood memories. Often, she made a delicious “Ivan Chai” with leaves of black currant, raspberry and golden root. We hung out with her on the back porch, drinking this phenomenal chai with ginger cookies, discussing philosophy late into the night. Since then, through many journeys in life, I’ve always appreciated a good cup of herbal tea.
In 2015, one of those journeys mysteriously brought me to the sacred lands of Altay. Needless to say, this trip was purely epic. I tried many different exotic foods with local natives, drank amazing medicinal teas in the mongolian hogans, and got totally lost in the misty mountains of the southern part of this magical land.
In my Altay travels I’ve discovered an amazing local tea culture and rare endemic herbs, which only grow in these mountains. I was so inspired by these simple yet incredibly spiritual people, and so amazed by the superb healing properties and potency of these plants, that I’ve decided to become an Altay Herbal Tea Culture ambassador. And since then my mission is to help share these sacred herbs with tea lovers all over the globe, and let them know about the true treasures of the Altay Mountains..
Happy Tea Time!
The Source
The Altay Mountains, located at the heart of the Eurasian continent, bordering on Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia, consist of the Altai Territory and the Altai Republic. Its size is comparable to Portugal, or Hungary. Roughly 200,000 people live in the area and they are considered ancestors of modern Turks, with a deeply spiritual culture and very old language. Even ancient Sumerians used expressions and words found in the Altay language as early as 3,000 B.C.
This sprawling and sparsely populated region is home to over 7,000 lakes, snow-capped mountains – including Siberia’s highest peak – Mt Belukha. As a result of its remote location, Altay’s nature has been well preserved. Mountain lakes here remain crystal clear, while forests and mountain slopes make the air incredibly pure.
The Altai Republic has long been regarded as an area of spiritual and occult significance, and Russian philosopher and painter Nikolai Rerikh (Nicholas Roerich) visited the region in the early 20th century in an attempt to locate the entrance to Shambala, the mythical enlightened land of Tibetan Buddhism.
It is an area that is well known as one of Earth’s primary energy centers. The personal energy fields of people entering Altay are deeply affected by the area’s energy flow, frequently resulting in ‘dramatic healing experiences’ as the flow pushes through personal energy blockages. It does it with plants, too! You can only imagine how powerful and supercharged all plants which grow in this region are!
Thanks to the careful protection of nature in Altay, rare medicinal plants still grow in the area. It’s home to over 500 unique endemic herbs, which only exist in this mountain region. Special soil conditions of Altay fields provide a perfect environment for local plants. It makes every herb growing in this high elevation super potent, packed with powerful natural vitamins and bioflavonoids. Even cows fed on these hills need three times less grass than those at sea level, because of the superb nutritional density of all plants growing here.
We’re proud to be Altay Ambassadors and make these unique herbs available to you!
